Skye Goksenin Sen, PhD
Physicist, Educator
With a background in engineering physics, I did my PhD in science education and curriculum studies. The focus of my dissertation is on the incorporation of quantum mechanics into middle school science curriculum. Quantum physics provides an intellectually stimulating framework that makes us THINK. Different than the conventional ways, the concepts of quantum mechanics makes us think critically within alternative systems of thought; it makes us think open-mindedly and creatively, so that we would be able to engage with innovative ideas and possibilities that have never been accessible before. Quantum physics EMPOWERS us to see beyond the taken for granted worldview. Quantum physics INSPIRES us to see ourselves beyond human limitations. The world of quantum mechanics is just like a video game, counter-intuitive and fun! Learning about quantum mechanics gives us superhero powers to see the world from an enriched perspective. The exclusion of quantum mechanics from school curricula is a problematic of social justice to me. My passion is to bring the concepts of quantum mechanics to people from all ages and from all walks of life.
